10 NBA Games that will be PERSONAL

October 24, 2012

 vs.
Oct. 30 The NBA opens the season in South Beach with a rematch of the Eastern Conference finals. The Celtics obviously fell to the eventual champs in that matchup, but they hold a 6-2 record over the Heat in the regular season in the two years since LeBron James joined the team. Plus Jesus Shuttlesworth, Ray Allen, has on a NEW jersey.
 vs.
Oct. 31 Andre Iguodala spent eight seasons in Philadelphia before being shipped to the Nuggets this offseason in the Dwight Howard megatrade. On Oct. 31, he returns to the City of Brotherly Love with his new team. Will the Sixers’ fans welcome back their one-time franchise cornerstone? Remember, this is the city that once booed Santa Claus.
 vs.
Nov. 1 The Nets will be playing for more than just a season-opening win when they face the Knicks on Nov. 1. Now in Brooklyn, the Nets are battling for the hearts and minds of New York City. A victory over their Manhattan rival would go a long way for a franchise that finished 22-44 a season ago.

 vs.
Dec. 17 Sources said the Knicks would match any offer for Jeremy Lin, but when it came down to it, the team chose not to match Houston’s three-year, $25.1 million offer. On Dec. 17, Lin returns to the city where Linsanity was born. Will this be the first of many opportunities for the 24-year-old to show New Yorkers what could have been?
vs.
Dec. 25 A rematch of the NBA finals — it doesn’t get much better on Christmas Day. There’s no doubt the Thunder already have this date on the calendar circled.

vs.

Jan. 16 There were rumors that the Celtics were attempting to move up to draft Doc Rivers’ son, Austin, but the younger Rivers ultimately went to New Orleans at No. 10. On Jan. 16, father faces son when the Hornets travel to Boston. As if that wasn’t enough intrigue, the game also pits Anthony Davis against a player he’s often compared to, Kevin Garnett.

 vs.
Jan. 17 A possible Finals preview? We’ve been waiting for a Kobe-LeBron matchup for years and we may get it this season. The Lakers would appear to have the edge given their size up front, but no one can match up with LeBron. We’ll see how it plays out on Jan. 17.

 vs.
Jan. 27 The second Heat-Celtics clash should be much more interesting than the first. Ray Allen, who helped the Celtics capture their 17th title in 2008, moved from Beantown to South Beach this offseason amid rumors of a feud with star point guard Rajon Rondo. The signs “welcoming” Allen back to Boston are reason enough to tune in.

 vs.
Jan. 30 Before joining the Lakers this offseason, Nash treated Phoenix fans to three trips to the Western Conference finals, two MVP seasons and one of the most exciting offenses the desert has ever seen. Lakers players rarely receive ovations in Phoenix, but Nash should be the exception.

 vs.
March 12 Dwight Howard tortured Orlando fans off the court for months with his trade demands, and he returns in March in hopes of torturing a depleted Magic squad on the court. Lakers fans are hoping Howard doesn’t follow in the footsteps of Shaquille O’Neal, who sat out his first game back in Orlando with an injury.

2012 NBA Draft

Annual NBA Mock Draft

June 2012

Here are the results from the 2012 NBA draft. There are a lot of good players out there from freshmen to senior and even a few from abroad. Plus, you can see how we did in our annual mock draft… hahahahahaha

1. New Orleans Hornets: Anthony Davis, PF, 19, 6-10, 220, Kentucky, Fresh.

The ultimate no-brainer. Davis could be a franchise player and will certainly become a dominant force on the defensive end. He’s also far more skilled on the offensive end than many realize. The Bobcats get a potential superstar and face/cornerstone of their franchise.

2. Charlotte Bobcats: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF: 18, 6-7, 228, Kentucky, Fresh.

The Cats took a great player with excellent motor who is an athletic freak and has excellent work ethic. So why did they wind up with a B-? MKG fills a need for the Bobcats, especially after the trade of Corey Maggette for Ben Gordon. But with limited ability to score on his own, and with so many needs, you have to wonder if a trade down wouldn’t have been better for the franchise.

3. Washington Wizards: Bradley Beal, SG, 18, 6-4, 201, Florida, Fresh.

Ideal fit alongside John Wall and a smooth wing who can make shots from the perimeter. Beal is solid in just about every phase of the game and will fill a major need for the Wizards and give the team a terrific young backcourt.

4. Cleveland Cavaliers: Dion Waiters, SG, 20, 6-4, 210, Syracuse, Soph.

Why? I mean, it’s fine, but… why? The Cavaliers are building a very good team behind Kyrie Irving and could have added Thomas Robinson or Harrison Barnes. But instead, they take Waiters, who did not start this season, who did not work out for teams, and who isn’t going to bring the polish they need beside Irving.

5. Sacramento Kings: Thomas Robinson, PF, 21, 6-9, 240, Kansas, Junior

T-Rob is a relentless rebounder who slid a few spots, but will give the Kings another force up front to pair with DeMarcus Cousins. Robinson is a man who can step in immediately and make an impact on the glass. This was a terrific get for Geoff Petrie, one of the best drafters in the NBA
